Our initiative has been going for a few months now. In this time we have formed our constitution, which will be published shortly, and the papers to officially create a food cooperative are under way.
We are currently in the process of developing the features of the blog such as the new forum , in order to facilitate the communication among new and already existing members.
We are still structuring the base of our group , but in the meantime , we are going to have regular meetings to introduce topics such as the transition movement, peak oil , climate change , etc to new arrivals.
At the same time, this is an area that is still evolving, there are many new ideas, discoveries , studies , different points of view to discuss. So we invite anyone to join our future meetings to comment on these topics in an informal and positive way.

Next meeting
Last week we decided to start meeting more regularly so the next Transition West End meeting will be on December 10th at 6.30 in Offshore cafe on Gibson Street.
Among other things, we'll be discussing community growing, doing a mapping exercise of existing growing projects and setting up a food co-op. As always, new members are welcome.

Transition West End launched!
We are a newly formed environmental group in the West End of Glasgow.
We aim to run practical projects that prepare for and mitigate against climate change and peak oil. Initially, we'll be focussing on green space and food growing projects alongside making links with other groups in the area.
The wider Transition movement only started in 2005 but there are now over 1000 initiatives spread across 34 countries. Each Transition Initiative works at a local level in a town, village, part of a city or island. So far Transition Initiatives have run countless food growing, energy saving and environmental awareness projects. They've set up self sustaining community enterprises and even launched local currencies. Their emphasis is always on local level, positive action, helping communities along the transition to low carbon living without telling people what they should or shouldn't be doing.
If this sounds like something you'd like to get involved in, please come along to our monthly meetings. Our next one is on Thursday 29th November in Offshore coffee shop on Gibson Street. All are welcome to come along but if you'd like to get in touch first, just email info@transitionwestend.co.uk
